October 1, 201015 yr Author The Manager of Lancaster Castle has e-mailed me to confirm that the view is actually from the south-east. This would have been the later (corrected) impression in 1771, so the one entitled the south-west view is the earlier print. Now we know. This is the second castle print done by the Buck brothers that I have found to be incorrect in the first impression, and corrected in the second. The other being Hever Castle (corrected from west to south - and the name of the owner amended, since ownership had changed between times).

June 7, 201114 yr Author I've not found any decent copies of Bucks' prints to post for a while, but there is currently on e-bay one of their books of 144 engravings (compiled in the late 1760's) - cost of $10,000 !!! Now if anyone would like to take out an extra mortgage, that would be great. I've never seen one of these come up for sale before - didn't even know they still existed.
