September 20, 201114 yr Admin I think its only fair to add, that we have been having above 115* F days with 100* nights! That river sand mixed with salt water was as strong as concrete which in the 5th image his jeeps bumper is well planted against a small wall. Guaranteed Sir Mech wasn't going to move forward after he broke the crust
September 20, 201114 yr Admin I thought you were just having fun, If I could have been there I would have been.
January 30, 201214 yr Admin Rose at the hay bails Meg and I went up into Kansas yesterday with my truck and the big trailer to buy some hay.Doesn't sound bad and really wasn't.Over 150 miles of on road adventure and THEN we got to the off roading.20 miles of winding up hills and down into valleys. The road was dirt, dried mud and some gravel (We had softball size rocks riding on the trailer when we got out of there), narrow areas with wash outs on both sides that the trailer barely fit through and stream crossings that were dry this time of year but would have been a real challenge during the rainy season. We climbed the last hill and was treated to hundreds and hundreds of acres of rolling hills planted in hay and wheat with hills bordering to the North and East.It was truly panoramic and beautiful. The family we bought the hay from loaded 8, 6 foot round bails weighing over 1100 pounds apiece, and with promises we would be back next year we headed out on the road we came in on. We lost the tail pipes and mufflers to the large rocks which made the trip back a WEE BIT noisy, but geez! It was worth it!! Cripes, What a ride!!!!
