Castle Hall could get £600,000 revamp

 

Hertford’s Castle Hall could be given a revamp after it was proposed £600,000 be attributed to the refurbishment of the building. East Herts Council's community scrutiny committee has approved the recommendations for the venue in The Wash and the executive will make the final decision at their meeting on Tuesday (April 21), which starts at 7.30pm in Wallfields, Hertford.

 

The aims are to improve the foyer area, re-model the bar to incorporate a coffee bar and create a sprung floor dance studio and multi-purpose space. The funds have been allocated out of £3.84m set aside for developments of Castle Hall, Hertford's Hartham Leisure Centre and Grange Paddocks Pool and Gym in Bishop's Stortford.

I've had an old book in my possession for many years, called "Old England" by Charles Knight. It has many engravings of various castles, but due to its size and age, well nigh impossible to scan any pictures from. So I've now managed to obtain a few pages independently, and have started to scan some of the engravings. Here is one of Hertford Castle - from around 1850.
