January 1, 200620 yr The Alcazar, built in the 12th century upon a Roman fortress ruin and later enlarged, is ringed by 10 semicircular turrets and overlooks the rivers Eresma & Clamores. Christopher Columbus met with King Ferdinand and Isabella in this castle.
January 1, 200620 yr Author At least he had the faith to know that he wouldn't fall off the edge of the world on the way round!
January 1, 200620 yr Sorry,no. The castle itself is ringed by ten, but how many turrets are on the KEEP? (sheesh....blondes...... )
January 2, 200620 yr OK...none...actually looks like 4 and one thats the treasury....according to the website
January 2, 200620 yr Sorry...try again. The keep has a specific number of bartizan-turrets with deep machicolations between them. There is more than on epicture clearly showing them.
January 3, 200620 yr Author The east or King John's tower has 12 , the great keep has four, plus a square stair turret to the rear, plus the treasury tower, plus a dozen semi-circular guard turrets guarding the entrance to the Alcazar, so 18.
January 3, 200620 yr Actually, 12 was the number I was looking for. The source reference I was using did not specify the name of the tower, but instead labeled it as "The Keep". Sorry for the confusion. I'll try to be more specific in the future. Anyway, I'm sure Gordon's gonna put up a doozy......somehow I can just feel it.
