Just a wee note to let you all know that a fourth edition of Martin Coventry's Castles of Scotland is currently in production. There is a possibility that this largest ever volume may be published by Birlinn, as opposed to Martin himself as Goblinshead, though a final decision on this has not yet been intimated . The gazetteer will include a whole host of new sites, including (hopefully) a number provided by yours truly, since updated lists for Glasgow and the Clyde have been submitted. Watch out for this one on the bookshelfs, it's always worth buying!

Got all eleven volumes of this masterpiece on CD-Rom. Great pictures which the CD-info informs me are copyrighted, and not copyable. HUH ! One can nearly always find a way round these problems, and I've successfully copied all 47 castle etchings for future use. (Ralph - I'll add them to that disc I'm creating for you, along with Tranter's sketches and other pics). HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU

Google said the material, available at http://www.print.google.com, represents the first large batch of public domain books and documents to…

I’m a bibliophile, and I’m not ashamed. Like all bibliophiles, there’s only one thing I enjoy more than collecting and reading books… letting others know what my favorite books are. Here’s a bibliography of some books on my shelf (actually shelves) pertaining to medieval life, society, and history. All of these books are guaranteed to delight those who travel the hallowed halls of this forum, and I’m sure more than one title will be recognized. Here are few general medieval history, sociology books. Frances and Joseph Geis. Life in a Medieval Castle, Harper & Row, 1979. . Life in a Medieval City, Harper & Row, 1981. . Life in a Medieval Village, Perenni…

Another large tome which I've purchased on CD-Rom. I'm not sure how much it would cost to buy the actual book - possibly around £250 or more. Lots of interesting pictures Ralph, which I will get copied for you. Here's a taster or two.
