From the Northumberland Gazette, 25th March 2009 £½m facelift for historic castle Almost £500,000 is being spent to give a 14th century Northumberland landmark a lift. Northumberland County Council has appointed Space Facilities, part of Space Group, to carry out a number of improvements and restoration work at Ford Castle. The installation of a lift system, as well as bedroom and bathroom facilities suitable for those in a wheelchair, will make the castle facilities accessible to all.
